As an Aircraft Technician Controller at Emirates Engineering in Dubai, you will be responsible to plan, monitor and control manpower requirements needed for aircraft maintenance activities within Base or Line Maintenance on day to day basis, and ensure strict administrative control of Aircraft Technicians, Mechanics and Transguard staff.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure Technicians and Mechanics in Line Maintenance are available as and when required to meet the overall requirements of Line Maintenance, taking into account the dynamic nature of aircraft maintenance, the qualifications of the Mechanics and ensuring contingency plans are in place. This will include adequate transit/daily approval holders in place for each shift as required by the daily operation. Co-ordinate any manpower requirement with Technician Coordinators (base heavy and light) as and when assistance of manpower is required by either sections. The same applies for other sections like Maintenance Control Centre, Facilities, Workshops and Cabin Maintenance. A detailed manpower record must be maintained. Should be fully conversant with Resources Management Systems RMS/SPX and update these systems accordingly to reflect the staff available at anytime within the operational environment.
- Assist Shift Managers on general administration of staff attendance, sickness, absenteeism, overtime, lieu day, leave, training and update records accordingly. Deal with first level supervisory issues related to behaviour and conduct of mechanics and technicians. Provide input to the Engineers conducting PM reviews on behalf of the department. Coordinate with Engineering Administration Officer on matters related to attendance, leave, training, staff transportation, sickness, absenteeism and industrial injury. Provide technical support to new joiners to the section and audit their performance to measure if further coaching is required.
- Maintain continual contact with Technical Coordinator on general administration issues, in particular in coordinating trainees and apprentices On-job-training assignments within line maintenance. Any new staff will be assessed and only join the line operational area once considered suitable by the Aircraft Technician Controller.
- Liaise with Equipment Supervisor / Facilities on the maintenance requirement for the line facilities, access platforms, Cherry Pickers, cranes. Liaise with Ground Safety Officers as required in respect of safety standards which include the condition of first aid kits, eye wash stations fire extinguishers, etc, in the line facility.
- Responsible for toolbox inspection program to ensure that mechanics/technician have the correct tooling necessary to carry out their jobs.
- Liaise with Al Tayer motors and any other suppliers for servicing leased vehicles and updating of vehicle maintenance records. This includes negotiation on the invoices given. Liaise with Dnata Ramp Engineering office for the training and issuance of driving permit on all Emirates owned vehicles and equipment that require such permission. Ensure all line vehicles are maintained and serviced regularly.
- Produce reports showing actuals and trends on manpower related items such as attendance, sickness, overtime, lieu time, leave. Highlight individual issues and trends that cause concern to shift managers and assist in putting in place remedial actions to prevent repeat cases.
- In charge of the technician shift coordinators ensuring that operational issues are addressed and followed up to ensure any operational blockages within the technician group are assessed and action plans put in place to resolve these issues. This will involve delegation of duties to the technician shift coordinators as required. Technical Coordinators and Mechanics will report to this position.
- Produce a leave and training plan for Mechanics and technicians to meet the needs of the operation.
Qualification
To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:
- Graduate (12+2)
- 5 years+ experience in similar operational or planning role.
- Should have proven supervisory skills in a front-end operational area and be capable of dealing with a large team.
- Strong report writing skills
- Strong analytical thinking skills
