Description & Requirements
dnata is one of the world's largest air services providers offering ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across five continents. We operate in 38 countries and 136 airports globally.
Supervise and control a customer-focused frontline team to assist the Service Delivery Officer in the provision and inventory management of dolly & unit load device and provide the logistics support to EK cargo within Dubai Airports. Lead teams of Airside Team Leaders, Airside Operators III, Airside Operators II and outsourced labour to ensure that shift objectives are achieved and the highest standards of safety, performance and quality of services are maintained.
In this role you well:
- Accountable for ensuring that adequate resources are planned and deployed in all areas of service which include EK and customer airlines, ULD yard, internal and external cargo partners and that all personnel comply with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manage and motivate the performance and productivity of the teams and ensure the most efficient and cost effective use of Dnata and outsourced staff, to control cost and overtime expense.
- Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is serviceable before the beginning of each shift and that unserviceable equipment is tagged as such and sent to the workshop for servicing/repairs.
- Maintain effective working relationships and communication with other supervisors and allocators to ensure that all activities are synchronised, adequately covered and that cross-utilisation of resources is employed as a priority. Proactively identify and deal with operational issues and irregularities, working with allocators to adequately cover demand. Ensure that the handover process from one shift to the other is carried out in an efficient and professional manner.
- Ensure that staff is appropriately advised on situations and solutions to develop their knowledge in order to provide first-level support in dealing with future issues such as ULD/asset damage, stock imbalance, discrepancies, reported incidents/accidents etc .
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff by ensuring compliance with corporate safety standards and safe practices. Encourage positive safe behaviours through face-to-face staff briefings and ongoing coaching. Ensure all areas of operation are free of FOD (Foreign Objects Debris) and all offices are clear, safe, and organised. Conduct on-shift audits and preliminary investigations into any incidents / accidents / loading / baggage discrepancies and update SAFE where required. Provide the operational management with reports of irregularities faced during the shift.
- Regularly monitor performance and conduct periodic on-job performance reviews and audits. Identify training needs and forward training/refresher recommendations in order to enhance and maintain the professional knowledge level of staff. Conduct follow-up on-job mentoring to all new staff and provide progress reports to the On-Job-Trainers and Line Managers.
- Specific to ULD:
Monitor ULD requirements on a real-time basis of customer airlines and EK flights and deliver highest level of services to meet the customer-specific Service Level Agreements. - Maintain proper housekeeping of Viking Racks, Main ULD Yard, Ramp (T2) areas and ensure that all ULDs are stored airline wise. Monitor the stack preparation for each carrier by following carriers? specific guidelines, where applicable to ensure EK balance stock across all networks.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the various airline representatives and proactively solve ground handling requests and issues. Ensure inventory control is maintained for all ULDs entering and leaving the yard/Viking racks.
- Ensure that all airline property/ULDs entrusted to DNATA within the relevant area are used and handled safely and in accordance with the individual carrier requirements or IATA guidelines.
- Specific to Cargo:
Monitor cargo movement to/from Emirates Sky Cargo warehouses and proactively resolve all handling issues within the shift to ensure minimal congestions with no accidents and/or discrepancies. - Monitor critical Ramp transfer connections and cargo transportation to/from T2 (freighters) to ensure no cargo misconnections..
- Specific to Dolly / ULD planning:
Liaise with all sections and departments to evaluate and establish the requirement of dollies based on inbound cargo / baggage loads and the ULD requirement based on cargo / passenger bookings within DXB Airports. Ensure the timely retrieval of excess ULDs and dollies from baggage halls and cargo warehouses for on-time dolly/ULD rotations. - Monitor and track station inventory and the incoming supply of all ULDs (baggage/cargo). Develop a plan to ensure a seamless match between the supply and demand of ULDs.
- Pre-plan to ensure sufficient dollies and ULDs are available for operations in order to provide the necessary support to shift Resource Allocator for Real time allocation. Provide feedback and recommendation on dolly/ULD stock management and engagement standards (usage period by customer airline).
- Liaise with EK ULD control to ensure efficient planning and compliance for empty ULD service. Review deviation reports and ad-hoc requests received from Emirates and ensure necessary actions are implemented to maintain EK stock balance. Prioritize station needs in agreement with EK ULD control.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
Experience in a Ground handling/Airline industry, or similar dynamic environment.
Must have excellent analytical skills and be able to quickly respond to dynamic changes during the shift
Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Operational Training Standards/ Courses:
Detailed Knowledge of Weights and Balances e.g. Equivalent to LC 2.
Dangerous Goods Handling
Ramp Safety Awareness Course and ALM (Airside Load Mgmt)
Must have knowledge of systems used at the airport including DMIS, NOMAD. Conversant with ULDs and stock control procedures
