Job Purpose

The role acts as the primary manager for the Emirates Airline Network Control Centre (NCC), supporting the strategic direction provided by the Vice President Network Control (VPNC). Responsible for monitoring and pro-actively managing the overall network activities within the operational window, the position assumes a pivotal role in the early identification of potential disruptions and the development and implementation of all recovery plans. With a focus on pro-active disruption management, oversee and coordinate network activities with the objective to ensure that internal/external stakeholders are sufficiently coordinated to ensure that disruptions are identified early and mitigated.

Job Outline:

  • Manage operations across the network through early identification of problems and constraints so that irregular operations are recovered efficiently and effectively, whilst ensuring compliance with international legislation, e.g. EC No.261/2004.
  • Maintain oversight of the effective deployment of aircraft and crew operations within the operational window, whilst ensuring compliance with the requirements of the GCAA and other international regulatory bodies.
  • Disruption management, minimise the impact of operational disruption to any scheduled service concerning passenger welfare, employee welfare, brand exposure, cost, OTP and safety.
  • Lead, guide and coach NCC line managers when approached for any operational challenges, ensuring assistance is provided to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Provide oversight of DXB efficiency, ensuring the interests of Emirates are well served. Includes, but not limited to, stand planning, tow planning, passenger, baggage & cargo connectivity, terminal throughput (airside & landside), and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the network operation, ensuring that standards and services are aligned and operating as per company standards. Where anomalies are observed, ensure appropriate response to avoid future reoccurrences.
  • Contribute to overall operational improvements and cost optimisation by identifying process weaknesses and operational flaws. Participate in project work, improving both process and quality of operational areas across the network.
  • Deputise for the Vice President Network Control (VPNC) in regards to Contingency Response Planning issues including the activation of the corporate emergency and incident response plan and activation of Crisis Management Centre (CMC).
  • Provide qualitative feedback to NCC stakeholders and relevant line managers, with regards policy and procedure, and staff & team performance, to ensure future development plans can address areas for improvement.


Qualification

  • Airline operational experience of which 4 years in a management role in network/ operational/ ground services is required.
  • The Manager Operations Control must have an in-depth understanding of all relevant regulatory and legislative issues as well as an understanding of safety, security and risk management. You will have the ability to assess the potential impact of the most complex and emerging developments and know how to apply them in the EK context.

  • In-Depth knowledge and understanding of flight time limitations (CAP371)
  • Understanding of aircraft weight and balance
  • Understanding of international flight planning
  • In-depth knowledge of airport operations
  • Understanding of dangerous goods handling and loading
  • Understanding of aviation safety and security
  • Understanding of Contingency Response planning
  • In-Depth knowledge of Airline and Operations Control IT software.
