Job Purpose

The Procurement department ensures efficient outsourcing and contracting of all aircraft-related commodities, including fleet, power plants, and equipment. Organized by commodity lines such as avionics, power plants, and airframe systems, we collaborate with engineering, finance, legal, and insurance teams to meet business needs with optimal terms. We manage supplier relationships and oversee warranty and product support, including contract administration and digital archiving. Our team negotiates extensively to secure and administer top product support, ensuring the highest standards of performance and integrity for our aircraft.


Responsible for the development of sourcing plans and the execution of procurement strategies, managing commercial and/or contractual arrangements for a defined portfolio of commodities. Focus on achieving the lowest total cost of purchase or ownership while ensuring optimal terms and conditions to meet business requirements and in accordance with Emirates Procurement Policy and Procedure Manuals. Drive the implementation of procurement supply chain management best practices, performance metrics and lean processes in line with the corporate vision.


In this role, you will: 

  • RFP and supplier selection: Manage the RFP (Request For Proposal) process, including sourcing and evaluating suppliers, preparing the tender documents, and overseeing the tender process within agreed timelines. Coordinate with the stakeholders to select a suitable supplier and negotiate favourable terms and conditions to the optimal benefit of Emirates.
  • Contract drafting and execution: Draft contracts in collaboration with Legal, Insurance, Finance and user department; communicate with potential suppliers, and conduct post contract reviews. Manage the entire negotiation process for contracts with suppliers, Government Authorities and any other third parties as appropriate. Independently manage and execute contracts and orders up to the limits specified in the Authorities Manual. Where contract values exceed this financial limit, analyse and prepare management reports with appropriate recommendations for obtaining approval from leadership team, as necessary.
  • Operational Support: Liaise with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and vendors to secure required support to protect Emirates operations including changes in induction slots or workscopes, negotiating leased units, commitment letters for Airworthiness Directives (ADs)/ Service Bulletins (SBs) inspections, and defects resolutions.
  • Cost Saving Measures: Proactively engage with user departments to identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost avoidance. This includes identifying suitable suppliers, including approved alternatives, to minimize total life-cycle cost and business risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate supplier and product performance against industry statistics and competitors to identify areas for improvement. Stay informed about technical changes and market developments, and continuously enhance procurement processes and procedures to ensure Emirates is at the leading edge of industry practices.
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure involvement of all stakeholders in the procurement process, building strong relationships with leadership level for efficient and effective supplier selection and management. Act as a point of escalation for operational/ supplier management issues and provide additional support when required.
  • Lease Negotiations: Act as Engineering Focal for all commercial negotiations with the lessors including redelivery conditions, lease extensions, End of Lease (EoL) compensation payments, redelivery condition, buy outs and aircraft buybacks. Collaborate with various stakeholders to review and align the negotiations with the Fleet Development Plan and ensure the best commercials terms are negotiated that provide lowest cost of ownership and optimal flexibility to operate/redeliver the aircraft as per the operating plans.
  • Lease Contract Management: Manage all relevant contract obligations promptly, including coordinating with Engineering stakeholders for periodical reports, obtaining lessor consent for insurance damages, cabin retrofits and other contractual deviations. Issuance of notices for exercising any contractual terms including extensions, early termination and redelivery related matters. Maintain a comprehensive lease database and regularly update the stakeholders on any changes to the contractual terms.
  • Aircraft Redeliveries, Sale/Disposals: Coordinate and manage the redelivery process with the Lessors and the internal stakeholders including generating the scoping document for redelivery maintenance in accordance with the contracts. Liaise with the lessors for any contractual deviations in redelivery conditions to ensure a smooth, timely and cost effective aircraft redeliveries. Lead management of aircraft sale or disposals including issuance of tenders, negotiate and execute contracts.
  • Support to EFTA and SkyCargo: Provide support to Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) for purchase of any new aircraft including issuance of tender, selection of aircraft, negotiation and execution of purchase agreement with appropriate product support and warranty terms. Provide support to SkyCargo for sourcing and negotiating additional cargo capacity on ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) basis to support the business growth plan.


Qualification

To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements: 

  • Degree preferably in Commercial Business or Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering, or other related aviation field.
  • MCIPS or other international qualifications, IPSCMI Level 3, or other IPSCMI job related certificates CSCP is preferred.
  • 10 years Airline experience in a Procurement Aircraft environment or equivalent engineering environment where the activities performed are similar / related in nature to those performed in the procurement environment of which a minimum of 5 years experience at a management/leadership position.
  • Experience in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Maintenance Repairs Overhaul (MRO) organization.  
  • Previous experience with aviation line/base and engineering maintenance services would be a plus.

You’ll have an edge if you have:

  • The job holder must have a proven track record of analytical decision-making, contract management, product support terms, with a strong commercial acumen, strong organizational and negotiation skills.   
  • Extensive understanding of airline engineering and maintenance activities . 
  • Familiarity with Aviation Regulatory regulations (CAA/FAA/JAA) would be an asset.   
  • Comprehensive understanding of Aviation Engineering Support services processes, financial analysis (e.g. NPV and bid analysis).   
  • Ability to negotiate complex and financially important agreements with senior supplier representatives 
  • Ability to coach, motivate and lead a team of multinational staff to achieve common goals.
