The Senior Technical Engineer will design, develop, and deliver robust, high-quality IT data solutions that align with business needs and corporate standards. The role will serve as a technical expert and consultant within the technology area, providing guidance to Emirates Group IT (EGIT) teams and ensuring the successful delivery of assigned work packages. By bridging the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, the role will drive innovation, foster high-performing technical teams, and support the adoption of new technologies. This position is critical to ensuring that developed solutions meet service-level expectations in terms of availability, capacity, performance, security, and reliability while adhering to enterprise development standards and methodologies

In this role, you will:

• Provide expert technical consultancy and guidance to EGIT dealing within the technology area and act as lead technical member in the project team, delivering the work packages assigned. Foster the development of high-performing technical teams to meet strategic architectural objectives
• Develop IT Solutions that meet customer requirements. Ensure that the design is robust, appropriate, and of high quality, and conforms to corporate standards and is in line with the technical strategy.
• Ensure that the developed architecture/solution meets the service level requirements in terms of expected availability, capacity, continuity, security, performance, and reliability.
• Develop solution architectures for assigned projects with the established EA standards, and also support the development of technology advancements and the adaptation of new technologies.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to implement ongoing monitoring of the relevant technology to ensure level 1 & 2 incidents are configured within EMS.
• Guide Project Manager/Technology team managers for solution definition, technical design, and development of in-house developed solutions. These are to be delivered as per agreed costs and timescales to meet signed-off functional, technical, and process requirements.
• Ensure that assigned incidents are resolved within the agreed service levels and problems are defined and analysed in line with the Problem Management Process. Ensure that solutions to problems meet the architectural and security standards within the technology area and that the impact on the business is minimised. Own and manage changes within the technology area.
• Publish and maintain high-quality documentation and data catalogue for the technology area. Working within the standard templates and documentation guidelines, which include detailed design, configuration details, support procedures, operations manuals, and deployment architecture to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and governance across systems.
• Manage end-of-life replacement of equipment and/or software within the technology area to ensure conformance to technical standards and support the technology initiatives and directions.
• Ensure the process and enhancement specifications are translated into effective programs with error-free code using the enterprise development tools, methods, and languages.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

• Degree or honours (12+3 or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in Information Technology or other.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Experience working in DevOps and/or Agile methodology (SAFEe), Confluence, and JIRA
• Cloud domain certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect -  Professional, AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty, or Azure Solutions Architect - Expert (Optional)
• Microsoft Certification related to Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Enterprise Voice Technology, or End User Technology (Optional)
• Python and SQL Scripting Skills, desired DAX
• Knowledge and understanding of Metrics, Logs, and Traces, and their influence over application health and performance.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams

Cloud Security

• Proficiency in AWS, Azure, GCP, and Private Cloud environments.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud security concepts and best practices.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift Security, and Securing Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters.
• Scripting skills in Python, Go, and Bash.
• Understanding of cloud security best practices and container orchestration best practices.
• Proficient in containerization technologies (Docker, Container Runtimes).
• Automation experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation.
• Integration experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and automated deployment practices.
• Experience with documentation tools and platforms.

Unified Communications

• Microsoft certifications related to Enterprise Voice Technology (Optional).
• Knowledgeable in CTI, IVR, IP Telephony, Facsimiles, Audio and Video Conferencing, Voice/VOIP/Convergence of voice & data.
• Knowledgeable in Voice Gateways/Session Border Controllers.
• Call/Contact Centre Technology (in the cloud).
• Knowledgeable in Enterprise Voice Cloud Technology, PowerShell, PowerApps, and Power BI.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Teams Rooms, Teams Rooms Devices, Microsoft Exchange, and Exchange Online.
