Description & Requirements
The Operations Research and Effectiveness (OR&E) department is an in-house consulting division at the Emirates Group. It is responsible for enhancing our performance by managing complex and critical projects across all business units. OR&E delivers significant business benefits from the services strategy, organisational design, process excellence, customer experience, innovation/digital, project management, and business performance.
As Vice President of Organisations Research and Effectiveness (OR&E) you will enable exceptional performance across a large portfolio of the frontline departments of the Emirates Group in support of the strategies set out by the President/Chiefs/EVPs of the Group. This will be achieved through highly valued and trusted partnerships at Chief, EVP and DSVP levels across a broad portfolio of business accounts, with an outstanding ability to influence complex, cross departmental decision making, interpret senior management direction and successfully enable and deliver sustainable change across multiple business units to better support the Emirates Group objectives with a specific focus on productivity improvement and organisation design and development.
In this role, you will:
- Be accountable to the senior management team of the Emirates Group for the development and delivery of business plans/strategies and work programmes for departments ensuring sufficient focus on cross functional processes by adopting a thought leadership role to deliver on process, people and technology related subjects to meet corporate goals and enhance business performance.
- Establish and monitor implementation of recommendations and benefits tracking using a KPI framework. Influence decision-makers to continually improve performance, productivity and effectiveness using industry benchmarks.
- Identify, develop, influence, and drive cross functional, change management projects or programmes, successfully influencing the diverse and varied stakeholders to deliver sustainable change towards strategic goals across the entire Group. Deliver strategically targeted research and insights to understand and apply industry trends and direction relevant to the priority objectives of business leaders and their management teams. Ensure change programmes are aligned to the overall Group and department business strategy.
- Develop a range of value-added consultancy services, sourcing training and material with strong focus on adopting Gen AI and other digital tools to ensure OR&E stays ahead of world class business improvement/consultancy skills. Enable the transfer of these skills across the business through research and creation of OR&E's Service Lines. All with a specific focus on the knowledge management of defined technical skills.
- Lead strategic and path breaking projects with cross functional and internal stakeholders that involve providing decision papers to influence and support innovative and/or strategic decisions with a long-term impact not only on the department involved but for the entire Group. Proactively facilitate the evaluation, decision support, modelling / analytics, implementation, and benefits realisation of new initiatives that will deliver significant change and impact.
- Be the 'talent manager' for the OR&E pool of employees ensuring learning priorities are managed, there is a clear development pathway for employees and that preferences and job rotations are managed within, effectively. Enable through relationship with the business, appropriate pathways and opportunities for OR&E talent to transition into business roles.
- Drive the prioritisation of workload, allocation of resources, motivation and development of staff, and cross functional leadership to ensure the delivery of the OR&E vision, mission and values and translating strategic conversations with Group business leaders into prioritised work packages ensuring maximum productivity at minimal costs.
- Accountable for the delivery, leadership and management of direct reports and team through achieving targets of cost per man days, development plans, training, and appropriate mentoring, as well as coaching and motivation. Conduct timely annual and interim performance reviews and set SMART objectives to cultivate a culture of high performance.
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree (12+3 or equivalent) / post graduate degree in Engineering, Management, Industrial Engineering or a Quantitative discipline
- 12 + years’ experience in business consulting in Commercial and/or Operational and Strategic business support units of a large organisation at a managerial level.
- Detailed domain knowledge, future industry direction, products and business processes of an Airline, Travel, Hospitality, Transportation and Airport Operations businesses.
- High level (mastery) of techniques in business planning, research, project and programme management, process improvement, organisation design and development.
- Advanced knowledge of customer experience and customer centric organisations. Ability to influence a diverse group of senior stakeholders and businesses.
- Ability to create organisational direction with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills to influence at the most senior levels of the Group.
- Commercially astute with an exceptional organisational understanding wherein difficult questions can be asked, unspoken agendas can be surfaced, and organisations problems can be anticipated.
- A mindset that integrates rational ideals with political reality with expertise which can help understand why results are happening in the organisation, not just what is happening.
- Ability to provide insightful, effective strategic counsel to clients and to devise and implement the strategic insights that will enable clients to compete successfully.
