Description & Requirements
Our Procurement & Logistics group focuses on aircraft services as well as general services. They negotiate and manage contracts with third-party suppliers and find ways to mitigate costs. Our staff are dedicated professionals who enjoy the challenge of increasing productivity, boosting quality, and improving processes!
The Vice President, Procurement & Logistics will proactively plan, develop, implement, and manage innovative and sustainable procurement strategies to acquire mission critical goods and services in a variety of key operational areas. This must follow procurement best practice and be undertaken with the twin aims of securing the lowest total cost of ownership, and in line with pre-agreed corporate quality standards. Cost categories include Airline, Group Services, dnata and Commercial and Corporate Communications and General Purchasing.
In this role, you will:
- Provide support to the DSVP Procurement & Logistics by identifying strategies and implementing to deliver the lowest total cost of ownership or acquisition for capital, goods or service items.
- Identify, develop and implement strategic procurement practices which deliver the best commercial terms and conditions, for the assigned cost category.
- Establish processes and systems for the management of inventory control to minimise total cost whilst supporting the organisation requirements.
- Develop and implement Group wide Procurement and Logistics policies, procedures and supply chain strategy to establish a consistent approach in purchasing and stock control across the Group.
- Identify user interfaces and develop Service Level Agreements and establish policies, processes and systems to achieve agreed performance targets.
- Plan, direct and oversee the commercial negotiations for goods and services as required to achieve the best value for money.
- Develop supplier relationship programmes to leverage the cost savings and technological expertise of key suppliers.
- Develop and maintain joint objectives and strong working relationships with the line departments to ensure proactive reviews, resolve / minimise conflicts and take action to reduce costs.
- Seek to continually improve and update the procurement techniques, tools and strategies to ensure that we are at the leading edge of our industry.
- Lead, manage and monitor the day to day activities of the Procurement and Logistics team against agreed objectives. Develop and maintain joint objectives and strong working relationships with line departments to ensure proactive reviews, resolve/minimise conflicts and take action to reduce costs.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Honours with 12+ years of experience in Purchasing & Supply or Business management
- Experience in an airline technical / commercial procurement environment of which 5 years must be at a Senior Management Level
Knowledge/skills:
- Exposure to current trends in supplier management and negotiation through conference attendance and/or courses.
- A proven track record in line management with experience in process improvement.
- Must have a clear understanding of best practise techniques and change orientation.
- Substantial exposure to major capital acquisitions.
- Highly motivated and have strong interpersonal skills.
- Flexible customer focused approach to respond and meet the needs of the organisation.
- Ability to introduce best practice inventory management techniques.
P&L Requirement
- Recommended International Qualifications: MCIPS, CIPS, CPP, CSMP, CPSM, IPSCMI qualifications (CIPP, CPPP, CISCP, CICCM, CIPN, CITLP, CISM, CMPO)
- Master Degree or Bachelor Degree in Procurement, Finance, Engineering, MBA equivalent to CIPS or MCIPS
