Job Purpose

At Base Maintenance, our expert engineers deliver unparalleled service for all aircraft checks, from comprehensive inspections to major system repairs. We handle cabin retrofits, aircraft deliveries, and detailed inspection programs for Airbus A380, A350 and Boeing 777.
Our team excels in timely, cost-effective solutions for A & C checks, engine change, and landing gear changes, along with unscheduled maintenance and pre-service checks.

As a Maintenance Shift Manager, you will be responsible for day to day activities in maintenance operations including management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimise grounding and avoid operational disruptions Support operational and commercial requirements by optimum deployment of resources to achieve efficient cost effective results whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety process and regulatory compliance driving a safety culture within EK Engineering


In this role, you will:

  • Conduct routine and ad-hoc meetings as required with team members to discuss operational performance expectations, highlight any issues or concerns and ensure focus on good safety practices and housekeeping to drive a safety culture in EK Engineering.
  • Lead the MyBC performance management process ensuring that each team member has agreed goals, interim review and end of year performance review. Participate in calibration sessions as agreed each year and ensure that all performance ratings awarded in a fair and transparent manner.
  • Maintain a leave bid system to enable team members to avail annual leave days whilst balancing adequate resources to attend to business/operational requirements. Maintain control of overtime and lieu hours as per approval requirements.
  • Cascade and maintain quality standards by ensuring that team members are aware of technical publications and revisions. Conduct routine audits within the workplace to ensure compliance with published requirements and highlight any failures/findings to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance as required to department Engineering team.
  • Identify training requirements to ensure that hangar inputs can be achieved. Ensure that any type training is converted in to an approval within the minimum period post classroom training.
  • Report any safety related incidents using appropriate reporting processes and through monthly review of safety reports. Identify trends and rectify with training, equipment medication or process changes as required.
  • Build a robust safety environment within the workplace that aligns with the requirements of the company
  • SMS and develop a culture within the working group that understands situational awareness, risk assessment, safety practices, safety reporting and safety improvement programs. This closed loop safety cycle should be visible and demonstrated through the use of safety audits and safety champions.
  • Plan resource requirement to support the four phases of the letter check and/or modification/maintenance input adjusting as appropriate to cater for recovery plan where required. Review letter check financial costs to stay within budget provisions.
  • Using KPI report data, create and implement action plans to improve manpower utilisation, DBNU performance both routine and non routing and track and trace activity to optimum level.
  • Support the EK Engineering Support Unit in the event of an accident/incident.


Qualification

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements: 

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Experience in Engineering / Maintenance Control 10+ Years
  • Knowledge/skills:
    • B. Engg in Aeronautical subjects/Mechanical/Avionics/Electronic/Tech Engineering or Maintenance Engineering Licence OR 
    • GCAA license required with at least 2 aircraft types( at least 1 must be an EK Aircraft Type approval for external candidates).
    • Experience in aviation maintenance environment with at least 8 years as a certified Engineer.
    • Fully conversant with Air legislation and legal matters that related to the operation and maintenance of aircraft to international standards. Job holder must have ICAO type II/GCAA type rated licenses on company aircraft as well as company approvals
