Job Purpose

To provide the highest standard of evidence based medical care for company staff and their dependents, within the quality and accreditation standards to meet General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulatory requirements, whilst remaining within strict budgetary controls. Specific to Aviation Medicine Provide clinical direction for all passenger and crew medical escalations supporting operational areas of the business and Aviation Medical Examiners across EK Medical Services. Specific to Occ Med Support fitness to work assessments and health surveillance across the EK group and assist the Senior Manager in guideline development and design of health and wellness programs. Specific to Primary Health Care Provide clinical support in ensuring a comprehensive Primary Health Care (PHC) service is offered by EK Medical services. Act as a gatekeeper for external specialist referrals and as a referral point for company doctors for cases requiring longer term follow up of complex case management. For those with additional GCAA Aeromedical Examiner designation, contribute to supporting operational areas of the business and conduct regulatory required Aviation Medical Examinations for aircrew. Specific to MSK Provide clinical direction and internal referral service for staff with MSK medical conditions, injuries and following musculoskeletal / orthopaedic surgery, supporting operational areas of the business and Aviation Medical Examiners and Primary Healthcare Practitioners across EK Medical Services.

Job Outline:

  • Provide roster based clinical assessments and management for specified function across medical services optimising health care for employees of the Emirates Group and their dependants.
  • Ensure support of timely return to work through best practice evidence based assessment and management for eligible staff members in accordance to company policies. This includes but is not limited to fitness to work assessments (aircrew, engineers, managers), progress reports, support sickness absence processes to minimise disruption to wider business operations.
  • Deliver quality assured, value driven health care in line with local and international best practice standards and available resources whilst maintaining continuity of care. This includes but is not limited to prescribing, laboratory, radiology and internal/external specialist referrals.
  • Document all medical care and advice given within the approved electronic medical record and in line with best practice governance standards for Medical Records.
  • Manage complex cases related to fitness for work and provide details for management referral or medical boards as required.
  • Provide an escalation point for Doctors across EK Medical Services in relation to cases related to their specified function.
  • Develop a specific area of expertise within their specified function and partner with the Business to provide clinical direction in support of maximising internal resource utilisation, reducing financial burden to the company.
    Contribute to the teaching and training of students attending clinical attachments at EGMS alongside supporting mentorship and management for company doctors in the EGMS team.
  • Maintain all licences required to meet the regulatory requirements of the DHA (and GCAA if required) to operate as a licenced Doctor and/or Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). This includes but is not limited to meeting stipulated continuing medical education (CME) requirements.




Qualification

Qualifications & Experience:

-Degree in MBChB, MBBS, MD, or the equivalent medical degree from an accredited university medical school.

-Licensed as a Specialist or Consultant with the DHA or ability to gain such registration in line with DHA PQR

-Qualifications and experience satisfactory to the EK Clinic privileging committee for credentialing in specific specialist area

-GCAA designation as an AME (or ability to be designated as an AME) is advantageous.

-Completion of vocational training in general practice/family medicine is essential.

-Minimum of 5 years experience in family medicine post completion of vocational training


Specific to PHC

-Demonstrated extensive experience in all facets of primary health care to provide medical support to an airline ? crew and passenger health

-A specific area of interest / expertise will be an advantage

-Experience managing and mentoring junior staff

-Medical student teaching/training experience is preferred.

-Current medical registration with a recognised medical board or council is required along with qualifications and minimum experience acceptable to the DHA for licensing and to the Emirates Airline Clinic privileging committee.

-A fellowship or membership to one of the Royal Colleges or equivalent is preferred.
