Job Purpose

To direct and control all departmental activities on shift, act as point of contact and plan the availability of resources / equipment ensuring consistency, safe on-time performance and alignment with SLAs, standard operating procedures, shift demand and regulatory, legal and safety requirements.




In this role you will:
  • Manpower & Resource Planning:
    Works closely with Resource Allocators to plan, control, and optimise manpower and equipment on shift in line with operational requirements, cost efficiency, and safety/service standards. Reviews flight schedules to ensure alignment between resource plans and workload demand, forecasting potential issues such as manpower shortages or equipment downtime and taking proactive action.

  • Operational Execution:
    Deploys resources effectively based on operational plans to ensure smooth handling of all flights and activities. Guides and supports Team Leaders to deliver required services, conducts shift briefings, discusses operational challenges, and sets clear expectations and action plans.

  • Safety & Compliance:
    Promotes a strong safety culture by conducting and participating in safety briefings, modelling safe behaviours, ensuring use of PPE, and addressing risk exposures promptly. Ensures all staff are competent and confident to perform tasks safely while complying with dnata’s safety, quality, and environmental policies.

  • Baggage Systems: Understand and utilise all systems relating to Baggage Operations while ensuring system usage compliance.

  • Coordination & Communication:
    Communicates regularly with key stakeholders and other shift officers to ensure operational continuity, safe on-time performance, and service quality.

  • Performance & Continuous Improvement:
    Monitors shift performance, prepares detailed shift reports highlighting achievements, shortfalls, and recommended corrective actions. Identifies and contributes to opportunities for process and cost improvements.

  • Incident Management:
    Responds promptly to irregular operations, coordinating with Flight Officers, Service Delivery Managers, and Operations Managers to resolve issues and maintain seamless airside operations.



Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree with 4–6 years of experience in Baggage Handling, or

    • Diploma with 6–8 years of relevant experience.

  • Licensing & Certifications:

    • Valid UAE Driving License (mandatory for airside-based roles).

    • First Aid certification preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of airport operations, aviation terminology, and industry regulations relevant to baggage handling and customer service.

  • Proven ability in customer management, communication, and safety awareness.

  • Competent in supervision, planning and organizing, and report writing.

  • Good IT proficiency and general computer literacy.
