As Managing Director, you will report to the Board of Directors, and will be overall responsible for all the functions relating to dnata Zanzibar which includes organisational performance, manpower planning and deployment, performance management, improving profitability, efficiencies in cost, productivity, customer service and local stakeholder management. This will include developing and implementing the company’s business strategies to achieve the company’s business needs and goals.

 

You will have ultimate responsibility and accountability on behalf of the Provider for the implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS) throughout the organization. You will have the authority to ensure the allocation of resources necessary to manage safety risks to ground operations.

 

You will be responsible and accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the Provider. You will ensure compliance with the policies & practices set by the Head Office and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities.


In this role, you will:

 

  • Work with stakeholders in the management team and dnata HQ to develop the company’s long & short-term strategic business goals
  • Ensure the company’s strategic plans are aligned to the dnata brand and strategic direction Translate company’s strategic goals to formulate the operations strategic plan which includes specific strategies in manpower plans, change management, overall profit & loss performance, budget and any special projects.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the local operating environment, being able to identify any potential opportunities or threats to the business as well as the potential impact of any local regulatory or relationship-based issues.
  • Lead and oversee the development and execution of all operations related initiatives.
  • Provide innovative thought leadership and build organizational capability and effectiveness by driving initiatives to ensure a strong focus on both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver on the overall company strategic plan, promoting a safe working environment and high-performance culture to build sustainable operations, achieve profitable business growth and high-quality products & services.
  • Ensure compliance with company/international standards of workplace safety, ramp safety and security of premises, product and people. In addition, ensure that the company comply with the group corporate governance framework.
  • Establish, and proactively manage, regular and open lines of communication with clients, relevant agencies, including security and local authorities together with other group companies, developing and maintaining dnata’s reputation within the local community by identifying projects and relationships that demonstrate dnata’s commitment to the Zanzibar market.
  • Act as a key ambassador for the company representing the business externally and within the group.


Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or Honours in related discipline.
  • Minimum 12-14 years of experience in airport operations with an international airline or ground handling agent including at least 6 years in a managerial role

 

You will have an edge, if you have:

  • Experience and understanding of the ground handling industry.
