Amsterdam Schiphol is one of the beating hearts of European aviation. Acting as a connecting point between the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, flights to and from Schiphol airport are bustling with passengers, cargo and special freight. It takes an experienced team like dnata Netherlands to ensure the airport runs like clockwork and every cargo shipment connects successfully to its end destination.
dnata Netherlands is a key European hub within our global network, delivering high-quality cargo, ground handling, and passenger services at Amsterdam’s major airport, Schiphol.
The Finance Director leads all financial operations, governance and reporting for the dnata Airport Operations Netherlands, ensuring financial integrity, compliance and insight. The job acts as the Managing Director’s principal financial advisor, enabling strategic decision‑making through accurate reporting, forecasting, analysis and risk management. The Finance Director also oversees financial planning, working capital, CAPEX governance, revenue assurance and financial controls, and drives finance transformation and process excellence aligned with dnata’s global standards.
In this role, you will:
- Act as a trusted partner to the MD, Executive Team and Group Finance.
- Translate business strategy into executable financial strategies and long‑range plans.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling.
- Ensure timely, accurate management reporting, statutory compliance and financial transparency.
- Maintain strong internal controls, audit readiness and compliance with local statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee CAPEX governance, investment appraisal and capital allocation discipline.
- Drive working capital performance, including DSO, DPO, liquidity and cash management.
- Oversee invoicing, revenue assurance, billing accuracy and collection efficiency.
- Provide financial insights that improve cost management, margin optimisation and operational decision‑making.
- Partner with Operations to understand cost drivers and develop cost‑control initiatives.
- Enhance financial reporting and analytics capability across the business.
- Lead and develop the Netherlands finance team with a focus on succession planning and talent management.
- Promote dnata’s Vision, Mission, and Values across all finance functions.
- Actively contribute to the global “One dnata” finance community, driving process improvements.
- Any other responsibility or duty delegated by the Managing Director or Board from time to time.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- 8-10 years of finance experience at a senior level
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field and a recognised professional accounting qualification to the standard of Chartered Accountant /CPA
- Strong background in FP&A within an operationally intensive environment
- Demonstrated experience of navigating complex global matrix structures
- Proficiency in accounting software, financial software and tools, including ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Fully conversant and up to date with all aspects of financial Dutch law including tax and best practice
- Strong commercial awareness and financial impact awareness
- Fluent in English, Dutch and have the legal right to live and work in the EU
- Demonstrated track record of improving financial visibility, cost control and forecast accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills and act as a team player as well as business partner with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong strategic thinker with strong financial and business acumen with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable strategies
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
You'll have an edge if you have:
- In depth industry knowledge of both Ground Handling and Cargo operations.
